Use of Okthogonal Arrays in Mechanism Synthesis

چکیده
AMUact--No single optimization method exists that is best suited to solve all path generation problems effectively [Erdman 1991]. Graphical illustrations of the mechanism design space, given in this paper, attest to the difficulties encountered in the optimization of path generation tasks. An example has also been provided to illustrate the importance of a good initial guess in achieving proper convergence. Use of experimental design techniques that are based on statistically designed orthogonal arrays is suggested in this paper, as an alternate method to solve mechanism design tasks. It will also be beneficial to use this method to obtain a good starting point for the traditional optimal synthesis procedures. Also, when a theoretical solution is translated into physical reality, manufacturing tolerances, joint clearances, and elasticity in link members cause variations in mechanism performance. Orthognnal arrays and the related robust design procedures, suggested here, account for such variations as well. Design examples are given to illustrate the use of orthogonal arrays.

Synthesis of Antenna Arrays of Maximum Directivity for a Specified Sidelobe Level
Linear and planar antenna arrays are synthesized to have maximum directivity for a specified sidelobe level. The directivity is maximized subject to a given SLL. The beamwidth and the zeros of array factor are studied as well as the directivity. Maximum directivity-arrays are compared through some examples with super-directive, uniform, Dolph-Chebyshev and Riblet-Chebychev arrays to find a comp...
متن کاملPhase-Only Synthesis of Antenna Arrays Using Nonuniform Phased Sampling Method
Nonuniform Phased Sampling method is proposed to phase-only synthesize the power pattern of both linear and planar antenna arrays. This method modifies the conventional sampling method which is used for amplitude-phase synthesis. This method is based on assigning suitable phases to the sampling points of radiation pattern in order to reach desired amplitude of currents. Some examples are given ...
متن کاملPhase Only Synthesis of Antenna Patterns Using Iterative Restoration Methods
In this work, the method of iterative Fourier transform phase reconstruction, conventionally used in holography and optical image reconstruction, is applied to phase only synthesis of antenna patterns. The method is applied to two types of pattern synthesis problems: "main lobe beam shaping" and "side-lobe-level reduction". The proposed method is most useful in the efficient employment of attai...

In this study, Salmonella Typhimurium bacteria removal from polluted water has been investigated using multiwall carbon nanotubes arrays. Experimental results reveal that the contact time, the bacterial concentration and the weight of multiwall carbon nanotubes arrays have positive significant effects on the bacteria removal efficiency. Increasing the contact time and the weight of multiwall ca...
متن کاملDevelopment a New Technique Based on Least Square Method to Synthesize the Pattern of Equally Space Linear Arrays
Using the sampled data of a desired pattern is a common technique in pattern synthesizing of array factor (AF) of antenna arrays. Based on the obtained data matrix, Least Square Method (LSM) is used to calculate the exciting coefficient of array elements. The most important parameter, which involves the accuracy and complexity of calculation, is the sampling rate of the desired pattern. Classic...
